WaltSin

Walt Sin is an Australian multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter — a theatrical mourner, a raging sermoniser, a very drunk nuisance. Raised on hymns and running on bass, he builds songs from broken things, moving through folk, roots, blues, funk and hillbilly rock.

"As the lingering corpse flower stinks sweetest after years spent rotting, so does the nectar darken with time. So can a song brew in the shadows."

Sin has filled hundreds of slots on the Australian festival circuit — as drummer for funk-roots outfit Fat Picnic (Splendour in the Grass, Woodford Folk Festival), and as frontman of indie-folk ensemble Gentle Persons Club, leading narrative-rich sets from sticky-carpeted corners to big stages. He continues with Jesse Morris & The Shakedown on percussion for select regional appearances.

A global unravelling brought him back to Coffs Harbour, where he built a recording studio from the ground up. His songs weave broken things together — a snapped lap steel string, a hungover kick drum — reaching now toward EDM and live drum & bass. From sleeping under a church pew to an alleyway beside the bar: this is his sobering confession.
